Arizona State University, the Mara Guide Association, and the Maasai Education Research and Conservation institute are working to develop a local automotive education center to be ran and owned by the Maasai community. The school will offer education for members of the Maasai community to become certified mechanics. Those who obtain certification could obtain a job as a mechanic at the center, at a local lodge, or open their own garage.
(Example: interest, availability, distance, financial, reliability, competition, etc)
We are hoping that the center can help Maasai community members obtain jobs as mechanics around Maasailand to make money repairing Toyota Land Cruisers. We are conducting this interview to get an idea of the current economic status of Maasai families. This way we can conduct an economic analysis of the communities that may be affected by the integration of the Maasai Automotive Education Centre.
